My hsband and I were driving through France and wanted to see some of the Normandy historic sites. We passed the memorial and just decided to stop. Nothing was planned. There was some information at the base of the plaque but not a lot of...More

The city suffered a lot during the war and it is entirely reasonable that they wish to erect a memorial. Why on earth they commissioned this is a mystery. The statue is ugly, big, completely out of step with its surroundings and doesn't evoke memory,...More

This looks completely out of place set alongside the road that has seen so much recent fighting. I get that it is a statue of peace and is inspiring better for the future but in this part of France, peace is restored. Perhaps it would...More

This Memorial is very well done and a bit out of the normal for the area but it does reflect a sense of respect we need to give those who served.

Located towards the eastern end of Grandcamp Maisy, this monster cannot be missed by anybody traveling the coast road. It's brash, it's shiny, it's huge, it's totally inappropriate, it's unbelievable that the Chinese could fob it off on the French!

We were able to see a memorial service here during the Normandy commemoration, which was so touching. They had bagpipes and a beautiful tribute. I would highly recommend seeing it.
