Read a bit of history about this place and then visit to enjoy gorgeous views of Jimma and the valley. The palace is rickety in spots, but the history is quite interesting. Our guide had pretty good English and we learned quite a bit. Make...More

Interesting, in a local context. It is well worth to read about the place before you go, suboptimal guiding. The palace is somewhat run down.

If you are visiting Jimma, it is a must along with the museum where all the furniture are now stored.

From Jimma it is quite a walk to the palace but it is worth to hike (7,5km from the center), some parts are a bit steep and it is dusty. As alternative you can go by bajaj. In the palace is nothing left; all is...More

We visited here in late March 2016 during an overnight in Jimma on our way to the far southwest of Ethiopia. The old palace has a dilapidated charm and interesting artifacts. The setting, way above Jimma, is lovely and worth the trip. Give it at...More

I really enjoy visiting the Aba Jifar palace, as well as the relate museum down town. But it does need serious attention or it will continue to deteriorate. The views are beautiful and clearly the locals love it, as did I during my visit. I...More

Jimma is not the place where historical palace and museum are visiting but also the place where coffee Arabica originated. One can visit the dense forest of coffee and other species of flora. We had a wonderful time in Jimma, visiting the historical palace of Abajifar,...More

When in Jimma a visit is a must. The views from the 2nd floor on a clear day is spectacular. The large old cedar floors brings you back to another time. The guide had a decent English and a compelling story.

Old and rich historical area. Sadly, there are no guides to take you out and explain, no captions to explain.

I cannot tell you exactly, but you can visit it during day time and enter the place. In the Palace there is nothing to see anymore, but you have a georgeous view over the surroundings of Jimma. You can ask in Jimma Museum... More
