Two assistants taught us during the printing workshop and were very kind, funny, patient, and made us feel very welcome despite our late arrival. Note that because of logistics, its only really possible for one type of image to be printed during a session, so...More

This is a great experience for anyone interested in Japanese traditional arts or graphic arts. The workshop is fairly fast paced - but comprehensive enough to understand the basic points of the print-making process - perfect to slot this into your sight-seeing plans at Asakusa. We...More

Great shop showing and selling a variety of Japanese-style woodblock prints, made by Mokuhankan, 20th-century printers, or Edo/Meiji-period printers. Very accessible, even for novices, and fairly priced. Prints can be personally viewed without bother and the staff are eager, if asked, to provide more information....More

Went here with no great expectations but what an experience that proved with care that an excellent woodblock print could be produced. Excellent instruction throughout but you were allowed to get on with it and the result was quite amazing.

Traces of the history and culture of the Edo (old
Tokyo) era remain vividly in Ueno and Asakusa.
Spacious Ueno Park is a great place to relax and visit
a variety of different museums and galleries. At
Ameyoko which starts in front of Ueno station, the
grocery stores and clothing shops are crammed
alongside fishmongers. It gets particularly busy at
the end of the year, when many people go on shopping
