Many museums in Japan have very little information in English, but this one was better than most. Their collection of bags and similar things is impressive, but first and foremost I would like to point out that the items are displayed in a way that...More

This is exactly what you might expect: a selection of many travel bags and suitcases covering the last century. It starts with hand made products form Europe mostly and arrives at end of past century with innovative plastic Samsonite.

If you like bags (purses, briefcases, luggage), you will love this place. Small, but fascinating, and free to boot. One floor is a world-wide view of carryalls and the other is basically a shrine to the founder of Ace Luggage and his story with 20th...More

Found this museum via TA and was by our hotel. Worth spending a little time seeing the history of luggage. Some really interesting pieces. Not busy and no cost. Worth checking out for 30-60 min of your time for something different.

This little themed museum which is a bit off the beaten track is a bit of a hidden gem. I never thought it would be interesting, but visited it as had time to kill. Well worth it.

A chance passing of this museum in unusual Tokyo winter blizzard conditions tempted us inside. The museum is located on the 7th floor of a modern building, 50m from Exit A1 of Asakusa Station, Asakusa Line. The museum was the cherished desire of Mr Ryusako...More

Ueno, Asakusa
Traces of the history and culture of the Edo (old
Tokyo) era remain vividly in Ueno and Asakusa.
Spacious Ueno Park is a great place to relax and visit
a variety of different museums and galleries. At
Ameyoko which starts in front of Ueno station, the
grocery stores and clothing shops are crammed
alongside fishmongers. It gets particularly busy at
the end of the year, when many people go on shopping
