There are many shops along the street with good eateries and they closed quite late. Good for a stroll after dinner.

love the eclectic collection of stuff to buy, taste and ogle. best place to end a Tokyo visit as it's super close to the airport and has almost everything you need -- taxfree shopping, yummy street food, good Japanese restos as well as thrift shops...More

Ameyoko is famous shopping street in Ueno, opposite of Ueno station. There are lots of food stalls, seafood stores, bags and clothes, restaurants, cafes. There is a store “Magazine” which is selling genuine Anello bags with 10% discount, though other stores also selling it but...More

Unlike the Nakamise market by the Senso-ji temple, which seems primarily for tourists, this market is for everyone. Restaurants and food stands everywhere, stores selling food and produce, clothing, purses, electronics, pachinko halls. It was crazy busy and should be one of your stops in...More

I saw lots of comments saying that things are cheap here, however, I found many of the stuffs in this shopping area considerably expensive - perhaps they raise the prices for foreigners (just my opinion). A bit chaotic but I love wandering around and learn...More

Well it's like any other market around Asia. Crowded, noisy with the sellers yelling here and there offering their products and food. I never come here for the food, though there are alot of sea food stalls in this area. Instead I come here to...More

Great experience just to wander through, plenty of choice for food, clothes shoes bags etc but disappointed with the high prices. Might be a bit cheaper than main stores, but certainly we didn't think that there were any real bargains to be had.

It seems there was a time were Ameyoko was a good place to buy many products at good prices (even some ilegal stuff at the time). Now it's still interesting to walk around as it's an old school street but better deals can be obtained...More

Get lost in the markets and enjoy trying the different local cuisines. Beauty products abound. Get advise from the local shop assistant they know what works and is popular. Shops for every taste and price. A good day out.

Visited this area with some high schoolers from Honolulu. They just loved it! There’s a wonderful arcade with many mechanical grabbing machines. Good fun! Also there are a lot of places to get a bite! A must see area!

Traces of the history and culture of the Edo (old
Tokyo) era remain vividly in Ueno and Asakusa.
Spacious Ueno Park is a great place to relax and visit
a variety of different museums and galleries. At
Ameyoko which starts in front of Ueno station, the
grocery stores and clothing shops are crammed
alongside fishmongers. It gets particularly busy at
the end of the year, when many people go on shopping

Isakeyas (drinks and snack style restaurants) are usually open late, past midnight. No, not too crowded late into the night except where the bars are. Local bars and nightclubs abound a block south of the Ueno Park, close... More
