If you are in the Ueno Park area, its worth popping into this quaint temple complex. Founded in 1630, Gokoku-in Temple is one of the affiliate temples under the auspices of Kaneiji Temple.

This is a small temple inside Ueno Park. We had seen many at this point in our visit to Tokyo so it wasn’t impressive but rather serene. We walked around and enjoyed the peace for a while before heading on with our self-tour of Ueno.
