Tokyo Otsuka Awa Odori is a major dance festival held along Minami Otsuka Odori street from JR Otsuka Station and nearby shopping streets. On the festival eve, taiko drummers and dancers perform on stage. On the next evening, they dance on Odori street. At the special spectator areas, they dance in various formations. Most of the dance troupes ("ren") are from Otsuka and Ikebukuro comprising young, old, male, and female performers.
