For tourists who want to venture further than the usual attractions, Shibamata is a great area to explore. The crowds here are generally smallish, allowing for a nice break from jostling with huge crowds. The shrine itself is beautiful, with shops within the ground itself....More

After getting off the train, you see a narrow path that is lined with local souvenir stores and restaurants which leads to Shibamata Taishakuten. I spent a long time seeing those souvenirs because it was no so crowded like Asakusa. After paying 400 yen, you...More

もっと大きいものかと思っておりましたが、小さいものでした。境内には桜、梅等の賑やかさもなく、シンプルでした。 The temple is smaller than I thought. 10minutes was enough to look around the temple area.

This is an amazing and incredible quiet place in Tokyo that you shouldn’t skip if you want to know the real city. The entrance fee is only 400¥.

This temple has some of the best jataka (Tales of the Buddha) carved into one of its main buildings. It is very reasonably priced and definitely worth the half day to see it and the preceding shopping street.

The street to go to the shrine is nice and full of old fashion touristic souvenirs or delicatessen. At the beginning there is also a traditional candies shop need to be visited. The taste is really old taste. The shrine is interested but the 10...More

If you have seen a film of Tora-san series, you will enjoy this half day trip. It is about 30min. away from Tokyo Skytree by train. This town still looks the same as the cinema scene, and the walk to the temple was very enjoyable.

The Temple is the highlight of all visits to the town of Shibamta. Quite easily to find from the 柴又 station; one just have to walk past the lively “Nakamise” Taishakuten Sando [帝釈天参道] (but please don’t compare with Nakamise-dori of Askakusa or Kawasaki Daishi Heiken-ji...More
