Does not fit with all of the other temples and shrines in Japan. It is made out of stone. Very nice inside, you are able to take pictures inside.

We visited the Honganji Temple on the way to the Tsukiji fish markets. It was a good visit and pleasant to sit inside.

I went there on Aug 3 which there was the Bon Odori. Lots of people were gathering, eating and dancing. Such an amazing experience.

This is a main site of the Jodo sect of Buddhism, practiced by most adherents living in Japan. It's very India-influenced, as seen from the outer architecture, and is rich in gold, red, and shiny furnishings inside, with Japanese tatami mats and other Japanization elements....More

I really needed this spot after the intense crowds of the fish market a block or so away. The interior was contemplative and air conditioned. No flash please on your camera.

It is very close to tsukiji station. And just some steps to the Tsukiji fish market. Beautiful temple but not so special. In front of it there is often some free tour guides you can join with them to explore Tokyo.

Beautiful stand out architecture, very different to nearby buildings. An expansive temple built in an ancient Indian style that stands out and can't be missed. Worth a wander through both outside and inside.

If you’re in the area visiting the Tsukiji Fish Market, don’t waste the opportunity to pop up the road (10 minute walk) in order to visit the Tsukiji Honganji Temple (Tsukiji Hongan-ji). The present temple was built between 1931 and 1934 and is a wonderful...More

Ginza is famous for being a trendy hotspot, but it's
also a downtown area with shops that were founded over

It's a long established tradition to shop and stroll
