Very cute little street with lots of different mushroom statues, mushroom houses etc. definetely is popular with the kids. However the history of this street is not as cute as in the past it was a popular location for drug dealers.

so cute !! a very busy high street at night no matter the day, with shops and many restaurants to cater to all your needs. The mushrooms are the cutest and well lit up, and make great photos

We visited this street at night when it was quite busy but lit up. The mushrooms are so cute and make great photo opportunities! Very novel!

When you visit Alicante, this is a must see visit.
It's not massive but it will make you smile and if you have kids, they will LOVE IT.

What a wonderful thought to distract the youngsters while the parents shop in the numerous shops. We kept seeing this on Facebook groups and thought let’s make the effort to Alicante for a day trip. Well worth it if you combine with shopping, a walk along to harbour and spot of lunch!

I wonder what the mayor was on when he came up with this idea, it's just a street, but one that makes you smile, so pop along it just for fun

Calle San Francisco is a centrally located pedestrian street joining Portal de Elche with Plaza de Calvo Sotelo.

At the end of 2013, the mayor of Alicante, Sonia Castedo, decided to theme the street with figures of large mushrooms.

The work was carried out by artist Jose Maria Escriva. The ground was painted green and yellow. Huge mushrooms were installed along the street.

Since then, the street has been known as Calle de las Setas (Mushroom Street). It is one of the most famous and visited streets in the city.

Exploring around this part of town my twin brother Stephen and I cut down Calle De Las Setas to go a few bars and I must say I was totally took back by the wonderful mushrooms that proliferate this street.
Big,colourful and fun looking mushrooms that are just fun to find ,took some great photo's of these great pieces of street art before we moved on ,if you're near Calle De Las Setas it's a street to definitely check out.
