Well worth a visit. Spectacular falls and scenery. Water is cold so swimming is chilly. 40 peso entrance, a walk across a hanging bridge then the fall are right there. Don't follow google maps as the directions are misleading. Off the main highway from Barili to Carcar it is good concrete roads right to the falls. Just stop and ask the locals and they will direct you.

Truly, the place was quite good, however, most of the people around you are THIEVES.

We once visited Mantayupan Falls in Barili knowing that it could have been a very good experience because we heard that going there is more than being satisfied. Unfortunately, it was beyond our control that there was once a guy whom we anticipated to be one of the STAFF in the said institution, who secretly hide and attempted to run away together with our valuables with him. One thing for sure, he is NOT one of the Life Guards. He is the one who facilitated the "bangka'2x" thing. Honestly, this thing is a BIG DEAL for us because we get used to be very careful with our valuables because we live the city, knowing that there are more thieves there. We were not expecting that we would experience this on the place that is known to be the best. We paid properly and didn't even questioned it, and this is what we get? Wow. how insensitive. We thought that through us, we could TRUST the place and invite more friends to share with the kind of beauty they have that the people deserve, Unfortunately, this is the kind of experience that should not be felt by the people who are planning to be there. Customers deserve something better than what we get from this place. You might be another victim of this immoral act. If you want to a waterfall experience, BETTER VISIT ANOTHER WATERFALL! We truly appreciate the place but it will never be enough if there is a VERY POOR AMBIANCE.

This is from your UNSATISFIED CUSTOMER.

Such a great place. I travelled the public bus from Cebu city (south terminal) to Burili (tell the conductor to tell you at Shamrock). Walk from the bus stop 30mtr south and there is a big parking lot. The green building at the back is Shamrock pension house (see seperate review). Walk to the road armed with a camera, swimmers and drinking water, you will get asked by a dozen or so cycle riders so discuss the price for a ride to the falls (I paid 30p one way). Admission is 20p and while you can look at the first falls you see admire and take pictures then go up the stairs and be amazed. This 98 mtr falls are spectacular and so refreshing for a swim. The commercial issues are not here (yet) and the now have signs so easy to find. When you finish go out to the gate and wait, sooner or later someone will arrive and you can get a ride back. Dinner by the public market is great (cost 50p), if you have time go to Japunta and hire a boatman to show you the coast especially where the Spanish and the Japanese killed so many locals by forcing them off a cliff

These waterfalls are really beautiful and very hard to find. Google Maps will show you where it is, but Google Maps does not have any roads mapped out there, so you have to go to Barili and then start heading off in the direction on the map. We stopped a number of times to ask locals, and they were friendly and pointed us to it. Its a great place for a picnic. Not expensive to enter. A really well hidden gem in Cebu!

It took all my stress away. Its the very first fall we've visited with my travel buddies and it gives us the inspiration to find more water falls as beautiful as Mantayupan. A must-see! :)

What a natural beauty! I love the monkey that you can touch, the paved walk up. Very easy to navigate. We went while I was prego and felt very safe. Beautiful!

I went here on a solo trip. The place was kinda lonely but it was peaceful and clean. Don't expect to meet lots of fellow travelers. It was practically empty when I got there, save for a few locals who were out for a swim.

I just took a bus from Cebu City terminal. Then hopped on a habal-habal to get here. There is minimal fee to be paid. The toilet area is not something I'd be proud of, but it will do. There is not much to do but swim, frolic by the shade and stare at the falls.

The water is cold and colored blue-green. It's not crystal clear. You can't see your feet if the water level is above your knees. The shade of trees is bonus if you don't want to get sunburned.

To sum it all, I enjoyed my stay here. I'm a sucker of nature. Good for a one day or even a half-day rendezvous away from the crowd. Accessibility wise, this is a nice substitute for the more popular falls of Southern Cebu.

I'm glad I came to see it for myself.

Not so crowdy than Kawasan falls, more space to spend your day swimming, sunbathing, renting a wooden "board" made by bamboos, you can pull that with ropes under the Fall, lots of fun for kids and adults

Visiting with my Filipino wife from the US with family she has in the Cebu area, we were looking for a place to go swimming while in Cebu City so a day trip to Mantayupan Falls was booked. It is about a 3 hour ride from Cebu City (was told it was 1) where you get to breathe in the exhaust fumes, sit in endless traffic jams and horn beeps while enduring endless lane takeovers nearly avoiding head on collisions most of the way there in an UN-air-conditioned van/modern jeepney . Nerves were a bit rattled when we arrived but the falls were very relaxing, scenic and nice. And then the ride back...
