To visit Herrenchiemsee Palace you must take the Ferry Schfffhart... But then you should continue after visiting the palace to the next island: Fraueninsel. This island is beautiful: a Monastery you can see clearly far from the island, a few restaurants worth meal or at...More

Die Fraueninsel is a small island and it only takes approximately 20 minutes to circumnavigate with no stops. In contrast to the other islands in the Chiemsee, this island is densely populated with more than 50 houses and their inhabitants. The most unique feature on...More

Translated as the "Women's Island", this one exudes an ambiance which is very relaxing if I may say so myself. The town is small but is full of historical structures and the centerpiece a Benedictine Monastery which is still being used by Benedictine nuns. There...More

I like Fraueninsel largely as a place to walk by the water and take in the view. It can get busy on weekends and during the holidays, so early arrival is better. There are regular boats to Prien and Gstadt, as well as other points...More

Came here after seeing Herrenchiemsee by boat and stopped to eat at Zur Linde restaurant. Great view of lake, great food and great people.

Not to be missed by those visiting Chiemsee. Wonderful ambiance and three really fine fish restaurants with fresh fish (such as Zander, or arctic char) caught that morning in the crystal clear lake. More intimate but just as enjoyable as the "men's island" --Herrenchiemsee-- which...More

Only by boat - well organized and always on schedule you´ll reach this island in a few minutes and you´ll find plenta restaurants, shady biergartens, fishermen who sell their freshly smoked fish, a monastery, church and several nice shops. You can walk around the island...More

There are two islands on Lake Chiemsee and this is the more beautiful. Easy to walk around, sensational views, an eclectic selection of shops to explore and above all peace and quiet with no motor vehicles. The ferry service from Prien and Gstadt is regular...More

We love this little island and its flowers. And clear water of the lake. Actually we got our church wedding at the bell tower on this island. The monastery there was founded in 782 by a Bavarian duke. It was rebuilt in 1728 and 1836....More

Due to business meetings, We stayed in the monastery for a whole week. The island itself is small and takes approximately 20 minutes to complete a full circle along the coastline. The restaurant over there serves good food and also there is a beer brewery...More
