...if you want some peace, away from the crowds. Fabulous statues of Tengu. A must see for Tengu and Yokai aficionados. As for goshuin, avoid the skinny guy, who writes the sloppiest goshuin with a blunt brush.

On your way up via trail number 1 (and possibly trail number 3 as well) you will pass this Temple complex for sure. It's really a fine looking complex with a lot of activity taking place there. It's really worth a further looking around there...More

Having visited around 20 Temples and Shrines in Kyoto and Tokyo during 2 weeks of our holiday in Japan, this place is mediocre, especially since tourists are not allowed to enter the Temple.

You will come across this temple while hiking up to the top of the Mountain Takao. There are small shops next to it. It's a good experience to have while visiting Japan.

Traditional red temple at Mt. Takao. Statues of the gods, one with a long nose (Big Tengu) and one with a crow beak (Small Tengu), can be found at the temple. People come here to pray to them for good luck.

The woodwork and the paintings on the outside were gorgeous. If facing the front of the shrine, there is a cool looking Inari shrine to the left. Came down from Takao late so made it to the shrine before it closed around 1500. Want to...More

full of forest long nosed gods, nicely carved wood and great views. Take a less busy nature trail on the way back!

The Buddhist temple located on the trail to the top of Mt. Takao, and near the cable car station so usually people come to there to pray by the cable car. It was established in 744. The praying pavillion was chic design, but the gate...More

An ancient temple on the way to the top of Mount Takao. It is a Buddhist temple on Mount Takao. The temple offers a serene and calm surrounding and wonderful views around it.
