Thousand Year Old Church
Jun 2018
Chiesa di San Martino is a beautiful thousand year old church thats definitely worth visiting while in Tarquinia. The fading frescos and tablet with Latin writing on the wall are very neat to see.

Chiesa di San Martino
Apr 2017 • Couples
It's an interesting church with a sun clock on its side wall. The facade is quite unusual too. It looks like the building was expanded with the addition erected around the original structure with no consideration for architectural aesthetics or symmetry. The sign in front of it informs the visitor that it's one of the oldest churches in town. We didn't go inside as it was closed.

SMALL CHURCH WITH FADING FRESCOES
May 2016 • Couples
Chiesa di San Martino is considered the oldest church in Tarquinia, with it being referred to in 1051 documents, however there is little information regarding it. The 15th century frescoes have deteriorated somewhat, however it is still worth dropping by, to have a look at this small 1,000 year old church. The information board on the street in front of the building only gives the name and date, inside there is an A4 sheet of paper with details about the church. Located in Piazza San Martino, it is in good company with some lovely mediaeval structures.
