Impressive monument in front of La Roca. It was a sunny autumn day and it was relaxing and pleasant to sit on the steps, enjoying a snack and people-watch.

Lugo's hero
Jul 2018 • Family
This monument is one of the main attractions in Lugo. It represents the hero pilot of World War 1. Intersting to note that Baracca's logo - the Cavallino Rampante - was subsequently chosen as Ferrari's logo.

Very powerful monument

Very powerful monument in the centre of Lugo. The juxta position of the monolith and the Baracca statue make it a very intriguing item. Nice square to soak up the sun and plenty of bars around.

Interesting monument in the middle of Lugo
Feb 2018 • Business
The monument has interesting markings of historical horse figures with a statue out front. It is attractive to look at. Only down side is that there is no display in Italian and English to understand what the monument is for. Didn't have internet to look it up.

Drags your eye to the sky
Mar 2016 • Couples
Italians are renowned for their design and this monument somehow combines simplicity, texture and beauty in a Piazza which would somehow feel incomplete without a monument or grand fountain in the centre.

The tall wing behind the textured statue drags your eye upwards and to the sky which is surely what the sculptor wants you to do as it is of an aviator after all. It's simple, classy and fits well in its location.

We wouldn't detour a long way to see it but we were cycling from Bologna to Ravenna and our route took us directly through Lugo. It makes an interesting alternative to the statues of religious figures that are otherwise prevalent.

Makes you wonder why all statues aren't designed as well as this...
