The chateau is a ruin where you can take in a view of the local countryside. I would advise using the chateau as part of a day out exploring the village of Severac. We parked in the village centre walking around the medieval town and...More

It's a long walk to the to, so drive and park, but beware - it's twisty and narrow, so not great if you meet someone coming the other way! You can wander round the ruins for free, and there are huge panoramic views.

The castle itself is quite interesting, but as people have mentioned previously it is ruin and there is not a lot to see in the castle itself. The view of the medieval town from the castle is worth the walk up on it's own especially...More

As previous reviewers have mentioned the château is little more than a ruin and the real attraction is the medieval village just below the château. We seem very adept at arriving in villages and towns in France during la sieste and consequently nowhere was open...More

We didn't get as far as the chateau itself and settled for a wander through the old streets below. These are fascinating and there are plenty of informative plaques situated throughout. Look out for the 'Maison De Jeanne' the oldest existing house in the Aveyron..

We stayed at the campsite in the village below the 13th Century Chateau with wonderful views of the French countryside. We were there early season, April, and it was pleasantly quiet. We wandered the chateau and took loads of pictures. We were only going to...More
