We parked the car on the parking area, next to the graveyard. It looks an old church. The church was closed so we continued our trip to Rothenburg.

If you are traveling the Romantic Road through Creglingen, this is a must see stop. It is about 2KM from town with sign posts throughout the area pointing the way. The wooden alter is hard to describe and has a wow factor that pictures don't...More

Creglingen is on the "Romantic Strasse" which goes from Würzburg to Füssen. Travelling this route you pass through Creglingen with this wonderful church and its carved altar. It is reputed that one of the small figures from Tilman Riemenschneider is in a New York museum...More

We made a special trip to see the church. It was more beautiful than described. Such a unique exhibit. Definitely make a trip here. Even though they advertise no photos, you are allowed, just no flash or tripods. Highly recommended.

Starting to build the church in 1384 according to the legend, it is amazing that they added around 1500 this piece of wood carving by Tilman Riemenschneider from Würzburg. Great to see the artist himself in the right corner. If you have half an hour...More

You would only stop at this rather tattered looking out of the way church to see Tilman Reimenschnieder's masterpiece wooden sculpture of Assumption of Mary if you're interested in sculptures. It's phenomenal. Not to be missed if you are passing through this town or if...More

The unassuming-appearing church is the home of one of Riemanschneider's masterpieces: The Mariahimmelfahrt Altar (Ascension of Mary). The figures are carved on a large scale, and the overall impression is overwhelming. This is a "cannot miss" attraction , if in the area.
