What a surprising find! I have always wanted to visit Scandinavia's famous wooden churches, now I found one in the heart of the Harz mountains. The Lutheran church sits on a hill overlooking the town of Hahnenklee, not far from Goslar. A perfect spot to...More

Really beautiful small church! Nice to take pics in Sommer and winter. Cheap to go inside. Of course only one of many attractions in Hahnenkee! 30 April is The witch purge, which I recommend!

There are not many buildings like this in Germany. You rather expect to see churches like this one in Russia. So this one is a nice surprise, heated, well kept and different.

Great example of Norwegian wood church in Germany. The church is finished in beautiful dark wood and has a warm lovely feeling.

This church completely made of wood was something we had not seen before. The elegance and simplicity of the church was absolutely great. It was one of the highlights of our walk following the Liebensbankweg

Beautiful church in the village. Has a concert every Thursday evening which is free of charge. Hard to imagine how they could build only using wood and not a nail in sight.

The church Is not accessible for a wheelchair, I was waiting for my husband outside. I cannot add any details. It is surrounded by a lovely forest and mountains.

A classic Stave Church in the Scandinavian tradition - all wood and beautifully put together. At the top of a small hill at the start of a cute little town. Complete with bell tower that rings out some gorgeous music. And along the trail of...More
