The entrance cost was only €4
The ramparts gve great views over the local area. There is an interesting museum in the castle, very well displayed. There was also a room where you could watch people restoring objects which was interesting.
Definitely recommend.

Great castle in lovely hill top town

Stopped off here on our tour of southern Italy. Lovely hill top town and fabulous castle. It was surprisingly empty when we visited; no crowds which was great to walk around this interesting structure with its fabulous views of the local area.

The first thing you see when reaching Celano is the big castle on the top of a hill. Go and visit it!

Just a nice building full of character is the prettiest town in Abruzzi. Loved the ambience and the tranquility of the place. Will return soon.

If you see it while driving, it's worth a stop!

Fully restored, this XIII century caste overlooks the Fucino valley and you can see it from the highway so, if you got a little time to stop in the beautiful town of Celano, you can't miss Castle Piccolomini. The main entrance and the central court are astonishing, then you can visit the rooms inside or walk along the castle walls outside. The Castle is open 9 a.m to 7 p.m from Tuesday to Sunday and the ticket is very affordable, it includes also a visit at the Holy Art Museum inside the Castle and all the exhibits that change during the year. In other words, your journey inside Medieval History, with a little luck at the right moment, can be enriched by art, photography, or even music: the Castle is a cradle of activities, expecially at nightime in summer!

Decided to stop off cross country. Lovely village. The castle was impressive from the road and even more so as we followed the path round. Nice place to stop off.

Brilliant restored Castel
Jun 2016 • Family
So far this Castel impressed me the most in Central Italy. It has been fully restored and is in prestine condition. It is also a museum and can host weddings. Plenty of information is available. This is money well spent and very highly recommended.

From the highway , you can't miss the commanding presence of the castle overlooking the valley. The castle was severely damaged in the earthquake at the start of the 20th century and restored. There's not that much to see inside but the views are impressive and it's worth stopping for half an hour to break up your journey.
