We visited the Gardens at Russels after a recommendation. Having lived near here for years I didn't even know about them. Bonus too as the didn't charge that day. Was pleasantly surprised and impressed with all the flowers, water displays and general landscaping. A very...More

We called in to see friends and have a coffee. Good selection of gardening goods and has some different variety from the centre at the top end of the village. The Cafe is well decorated and prices are good.

Visited again after a few years gap. So much work has gone into making a beautiful garden which is full of colour and nooks and crannies and can be viewed from all angles and levels. Dog friendly too with a large car park and only...More

An excellent garden centre where we found the variety of hosta we'd been searching for, no big deal for most people, but the big commercial boys only stock popular varieties. The same goes for other plants too. The stock looked in good condition with plenty...More

We found the secret quarry through the Gardener's world magazine. Although the Magnolias were in bloom and the Rhododendrons were beginning to bloom, I think the place would be best visited either end of April or May. The cafe was lovely and the people were...More

There are lots of interesting plants, pots and gardening equipment. There is a little walking path as well. You have to pay a small fee to enter it but it's worth it. There is a small man-made waterfall inside (which they turn on when there...More

This review applies to the Quarry Garden located at Russells & not the garden centre & café which we did not visit. Although the best time to visit the QG would be during May when the Rhododendrons & Azaleas are in bloom anytime you visit...More

Visited 23-5-16 and the rhododendrons and azaleas were in full bloom - a real delight to see. Magnificent! It is a shame there are no ducks on the many ponds as they would be lovely to see. This is like a secret garden as you...More

What a find the quarry gardens are in May. Fabulous colours. Top quality coffee cake in the cafe as well. Can't believe that we never heard of it before.

Even if you are not a gardener, worth going for the fabulous selection of cakes, freshly baked on the premises. Lemon Drizzle cake, still slightly warm from the oven, washed down with the best coffee we've had in ages. Bliss!
