This is an easy and beautiful hike. The waterfall itself is amazing and one of the highest in Norway. You hike along the river and pass 3 other big waterfall along the way and some smaller. I recommend a detour to Avdalen farm and a stop at Vetti farm.

Easy and enjoyable hike with the beautiful scenery of Vettisfossen at the end of it. Many beautiful places to stop by. I would especially recommend a secret lagoon where you can enjoy swimming in a (cold) water. You can also stop before (at least for me) the most difficult (which is still very easy) part by the small farm where you can enjoy drinks or some simple food and just relax.

It is said to be the highest free falling natural waterfall of Norway. We didn't measure it but it was a great view! The hike up there was nice too, though the last kilometer the path is sometimes a bit difficult and dangerous for little children. Our 3 year old daughter walked all the way up, I carried her own in the backcarrier. Our sons (6 and 8) walk the whole 13 kilometers by themselves! Proud of them all! The falls along the path are beautiful too so all in all a nice walk!

To get to this waterfall you first walk 4.5 km on gravelled road (easy) and then 1.5 km on a narrow, rocky, partly steep and a bit slippery, trail. You pass three equally beautiful waterfals along the road, and at the Vetti farm, where the trail begins, you can buy coffe and waffles (recommended!) If you are an experienced hiker, it is no problem using running shoes also the last 1.5 km to the Vetti waterfall, and there are also ropes and threes to cling to in the steepest parts. If you are less experienced, or have problems with knees or ankles, you should definitely wear footwear with more support (hiking boots) and also consider using walking poles.
