Great experience travelling across on a narrow boat and would be good to walk if you have a head for heights.

Hubby and I had a pleasant walk around here on a recent Wednesday. We parked for free on the Wylfa car park on Castle Road where the Police Post and Cafe are located. We walked across the road to the signposted pathway to the Aqueduct....More

We eventually found this despite the low key signposting. It is impressive and very attractive. Well done Mr Telford!

My wife and I found it difficult to find a parking spot but eventually got very close to the structure. We walked along the canal towpath and saw the viaduct and the aqueduct close up.

This has to be the first place to visit when holidaying in the Oswestry area. The canal paths are wide and in good order, making for easy walking to or from this location. A tip: we walked across the aqueduct, through the long tunnel and...More

Walked from Chirk Bank just over the Wales/England border back into God's country taking in the marvellous engineering of the Shropshire Union Canal. Took us about 2 and a half hours with stops as we ended at the Telford Inn in Pontcysyllte. Bit disappointed in...More

The aqueduct runs alongside the rail viaduct and this is a unique setting. Anyone going over will enjoy themselves.

Most people have never heard of the Vron aqueduct. However, this is an unexpected and amazing experience. Not for the fainthearted or vertigo sufferers. By day boat or on your own, this crossing is never forgotten. Highly recommended for canal boaters or walkers, equally breathtaking.

Went for an explore whilst in the area and walked through the tunnel luckily read reviews and brought a tunnel as the barge going through didn’t bother with a lamp so it would have been pitch black for all of us and quite dangerous

Sadly NOT at Chirk ( only if you hitch a ride ) but the LLangollen Viaduct does trips across that Viaduct from Trevor side you can walk across and ride a barge back ..

You can park in Chirk itself and walk to the aqueduct, its not far. Both aqueducts are spectacular and are both worth visiting, I prefer Chirk because of the railway viaduct running parallel and slightly higher than the canal
