I understand that there are very few places in Japan (and in the world) where you can stand in the presence of a "living mummy" so this was truly a unique experience. Very touching.

small temple but well worth the visit. It was a pleasant short stop on the way back from Tohoku back to Tokyo

This temple is small but well-worth the time to find it and visit. There are two mummies here. At first I found it spooky but the more I learned the more I found them fascinating. DO your research on Japanese mummies before you go here...More
