A short walk up the road (0.5 Km) you come to this wayside shrine in woodland. Many spectacular plants by the roadside along the way and it's a lovely peaceful and soul-calming spot.

This is a place pilgrims walking the Kumano Kodo will simply walk through. For day-trippers, it's an excellent short (1/2 day) generally easy walk mostly downhill to Hongu Taisha shrine with its own bus stop. Either way you do it, we saw more walkers when...More

You can walk a very pleasant 7 km to Hongu Taisha from Hosshinmon Oji. A pleasant little shrine with a nice story.
