Beautiful cathedral, its stained glass windows are worth seeing. Located in the center of Ponta Grossa, open to the public, with good places to eat around the square where it is located. The best time to visit is at night, as this is where the stained glass windows stand out with the internal lighting.

Beautiful church in the square right in the center of Ponta Grossa. Official website with description. In 1823, after Ponta Grossa became a Parish, it was necessary to build a chapel, as the altar that existed in Casa de Telhas was no longer adequate to serve the Parish. The highest location in the city was then chosen for the construction of a simple chapel, to house the Image of Sant’Ana. Around 1863 the church, which had no towers or side aisles, was expanded.
In 1906 there was a need to build a new church, this was designed by the Italian architect Nicolau Ferigoti, attracting attention due to its different style and also because it could be seen from several locations, as it was at the top of the hill.
In 1978, the demolition of the Cathedral began, and a new one was built in the same location, with a more modern style.

Saint Anna Cathedral is very new, built over the old Romanesque style one. It was a pitty to lose their heritage but the city is proud of its cathedral either it is large and beautiful. Nice stained glasses.

Catedral belíssima!
The Christmas Mass was wonderful!
Welcome, homily, generosity and sympathy from the community and the parish priest were exceptional!
