I arrived at 7:00am and there were maybe 5 other tourists there. I loved the chance to get pictures of the stunning architecture and surroundings without a bunch of strangers in my shots, and as the shrine opens at 6:30, I recommend an early morning...More

As a Japanese, I love to visit shrines and temples, but I really felt Izumo Taisha has something special - as this is the shrine that all the gods gather in Oct, I could feel something very strong here. Even aside from that “feeling” I...More

Many people come here to pray, especially brides and grooms ask for a blessing. The complex consists of several structures of which this is the prettiest.

The shrine is located within a large park with several torii gates lining the walkway. I learned that the shrine is not just one building. I highly recommend seeing this treasure.

11月は全国の神様が出雲大社に帰ってくるので、神在月と言われているそうです。社の雰囲気も荘厳で参道の景色もとても綺麗でした。 You can feel real Shintoism here.Beautiful shrine ‘s architecture and the ancient history.

I was really impressed by the beautiful Izumo Taisha shrine and I didn't expect to spend half a day to visit it. It's definitely a place to see if you are around Izumo. Great place for photographers too!
