This place is on a side street which is full of new and interesting shops and restaurants. I had a nice lunch at the tachibana Dining with their Hikone Don.

Nice little area with fountains, shops and restaurants. There's a cat cafe around the corner, the only one in Hikone! There are several antique shops here, one where you can even get second-hand kimono and obi!

Newly built complex of resturaunts aimed firmly at tourists visiting the nearby castle. Nothing special other than the eyewatering prices. If you want authentic local food at a reasonable price, go to the strip of shops just outside the JR station instead.
