Not much to see here, just a part and stone wall. There was not a lot of tourist spots in town. We paid $13 to MSC Cruise to takes us here for a few hour. There is a big grocery store close by that you can shop for lunch and gifts. We bought tea.

A large part of the site is now Yatsushirogu Shrine. So, as remains of Yatsushiro Castle there is nothing remaining, but stone wall. However, it is an agreeable park. As I visited, azaleas were beautifully blooming. The entrance is free.

The pleasant environment makes it best suited for a relaxing stroll. The place is the remains of an ancient castle. I suppose the major buildings have all gone, but what remains are well preserved and pretty and reflective of the old style Japanese architecture. The castle stone walls remain largely in tact. There is a moat enclosing the castle. It would be lovely to have a boat ride on this quiet water of the moat. Indeed the whole place has been so well maintained that it is in itself very attractive even as a leisure park.

Great spot for a picnic and a lovely backdrop for some photos. There is no longer a castle but the walls and moat are pretty and you get a good view of the city from the castle walls.
