Though I had previously visited a Japanese graveyard in Tokyo, this temple was the official first temple visit and in by no means average, though the temples of Japan themselves are very similar and each entrancing in their own manner. Onsenji Temple was an exception...More

The main gate is at the bottom of the hill, close to the Kinosaki Ropeway. There are temple buildings but the main temple is helfway up the mountain. There is a steep stairway/trail one can hike up. Or, you can take the ropeway and get...More

It's a free temple that worth visiting since you already in town. Located within walking distance from town centre, this temple will complete the city layback atmosphere.

I stopped for a quick look around on the way up to the top of the mountain. Can be reached on foot, but it is a very steep climb. I recoment the ropeway.

Nice tram ride up the mountain. Stopped at temple in the middle and went all the way to top of mountain. Great view from both stops and nice, quiet temple to visit.

This temple is dedicated to the monk who prayed 1000 days for onsen water to surge at Kinosaki and is worth a visit to soak up the peaceful atmosphere in contrast to the quiet bustle of downtown with yukata-clad tourists wandering around in their noisy...More
