We started at the top of the street with the Ishiguro House and moved down. This house, free but more limited in scope, shows how the middle class samurais lived. Nicely preserved.

The gate was open but the entrance to the house didn't appear to be open. We walked around the side and could see inside. It didn't look very large. A woman appeared and then told us the house was closed.
