If you're entering or leaving Japan through Chubu Nagoya International Airport I highly recommend a stopover in Tokoname, 10 minutes by train from the Airport. Tokoname is and ancient Pottery and Ceramic centre and has created a wealth of sites in relation to this industry....More

Beautiful pottery town with a small shops with ceramics. You can take a map from the Tourist Info Center (train station) and take a walking tour on the narrow streets in the old tow - nice and quiet town.

This is an old shipping/pottery town. The walking tour is highly recommended. Grab a map from the Tourist Info Center at the train station and have a fun time. I think kids would even like it due to all of the pottery shaped cats everywhere....More

There are some fabulous small galleries, antique shops and cafés in the area of the pottery walk. A great few hours, especially if you are waiting for a flight from Centrair. I got a bit lost and overshot the map, the signposts aren't that frequent....More
