We really enjoyed our visit to the Belize Zoo. It's important to note that you need to go into this place with appropriate expectations. This isn't a large place. It won't be anything like the San Diego Zoo, the National Zoo or any large, well...More

As a staff member told us, it's not really a zoo, but more of an animal rescue / rehabilitation facility or wildlife sanctuary. Lots of animals native to Belize in an accessible and shady area. Plan on spending two hours, give or take.

Wonderful place to visit and spend some time seeing exotic animals. A definite stop when visiting Belize. Plan to spend 3 to 4 hours. Great gift shop.

The animals are all local to Belize. Housed in large enclosures mimicking their native habitats, they are sometimes hard to see (which is good for them!).

We toured the zoo ourselves during the day, which was fun! The environment is much more natural than most zoos and all animals are native to Central America. The best part was the Nocturnal Tour, a must!! So many people animals. Also, the best plantain...More

We took a night tour of the zoo with zookeeper Lawrence. It is a small zoo but very special. Lawrence called each of the animals to meet us. How amazing! We were able to feed the Tapir, the national animal of Belize. We saw the...More

Nothing but indigenous to Belize animals will you find in the Belize Zoo! And many of them are rescues. This is the best zoo, with excellent, dedicated staff. It’s just 29.5 miles west of Belize City, easy half or full day trip. Well worth the...More

Should you have no chance to track the animals in the jungle, Belize Zoo is the right place to meet them and still stay alive. Located ca. 30 kms from Belize City it is a good spot for a half-day trip from the town or...More

Great care is shown to these beautiful creatures as they live in what closely resembles their native habitat. Don't miss scratching the huge tapir's back, or being inches away from colorful parrots and toucans. The native cats are the highlight of the tour; especially looking...More

Not sure. The entrance to the zoo is $25.00 I think and the nocturnal tour is around $50.00 but can be less if there are others with you. You’ll enjoy it! Hope that helps.

The daily special (chicken with rice&beans) was typical local food and was well above average for a tourist cafe.
