The original King Kamehameha Statue is located in the heart of Hawi. It is across the street of a beautiful local art gallery. It is a wonderful statue and worth the visit. Stay and walk through the town it is a quaint little town.

Nice statue but make sure you take a look at the building behind it. It's well worn but is a tribute to the soldiers from Hawaii

The statue is easily spotted in the small town of Kapa’au. The statue of King Kamehameha is large, colourful and prominently displayed -- overlooking Akoni Pule Highway (Highway 270). We parked across the street in a lot in front of some businesses. Be cautious when...More

This is the original statute that was lost at sea and recovered. If you’ve seen the ones in Honolulu or Washington, D.C., this one is the same. It’s located a bit of a drive outside of town but it’s a scenic drive. King Kamehameha is...More

It is nice to see the local history and this stop is worth it. They had great parking and a small park area. There were many taking pictures, that was the only down side, to get a picture without others in it.

This statue has been restored many times. Originally constructed in 1800’s is has been well kept over the years.

So much of the Big Island is full of history. Stop at all of them. This one was really cool. Reading the backstory of the statue is impressive. And the fact the people put in so much effort restoring it as well. Nicely done Kapaau.

Nice statue and a good photo op. Have to be careful of the traffic as you get a picture from a distance.
