We rented a pontoon from Rose Marina for the day. We did not make it quite as far around the islands as we "planned" but we had no idea what to expect even after weeks, maybe months, of research. We saw dolphins in a wild feeding frenzy right next to the boat, quite a treat. There was time to circle around a few keys and float about here and there. Fantastic experience.

We took a boat trip out among the ten thousand islands and what luck, we saw a manatee. We enjoyed our time here and hope to return.

The Ten Thousand Islands boat tour was amazing. Captain Dave and Dave were both very knowledgeable and ensured we had a great dolphin show. Would do again and would definitely recommend!

This wasnā€™t our favorite trail. It was mostly straight with vegetation on both sides of the trail so you couldnā€™t see much of the water or wildlife. There was a nice lookout though.

This is a great hike, filled with wildlife. The area was originally developed for oil exploration, which was eventually abandoned. What's left is the access road to the never used drilling site. Both sides of the improved road are swampy and filled with gators and large shore birds of a great many species. It's wheelchair accessible about halfway out where the road turns to packed gravel. Still worth the trip out to the 2nd bench for seeing the large gators. Viewing platforms are accessible to the 2nd, but not 3rd level. Still worth the stop.

Parked at Marsh Trail and had a leisurely walk to the tower. Numerous birds everywhere and even an alligator! Definitely recommend!

Paved path to observation tower. A gravel path continues to view more openings to water areas. Great open space to observe a variety of birds and their natural behaviors.

This is a primitive trail, paved for the first quarter mile where there is a very nice observation tour with fabulous views of various birds. We saw herons, ospreys, hawks, moorhens and egrets. There was a fabulous looking alligator at the beach on the far end of a pond by the first bench...maybe he'll still be there. There are no bathrooms or water fountains. So, bring water and sunscreen and there are a lot of flies, so bring insect repellent, although I don't think the flies bite, they just are annoying. The only disappointment is that the trail just ends at 2.2 miles and it's not a circular trail, so you do see the same stuff on the way back. But everything is free and the walk is easy.

If you enjoy nature and beautiful birds, take a ride to the Marsh Trail at about 5-6p.m.
There are so many birds coming in to roost for the night it reminds you of an airport!
We saw egrets, herons of all types, spoonbills and so many more. We saw hundreds of ibis roosting in the trees. The trail is not well marked from the highway, but it is well worth checking out

Hard to find via GPS. Lots of birds and nice walk. Not much more. Lookout tower is the high lite of the walk.
