Black sand beach with little shade. Several bars/restaurants on beach; shower but no public bathroom. Warning for rip tides. Reminded me of beaches I used to sleep on in Greece when I was young.

I honestly did not know what to expect from Costa Rica in general or Playa Hermosa specifically. However, we figured it was worth a go. You never know until you try it for yourself, right? My wife and I spent five days here recently and...More

Black sand beach. Wasn’t too crowded when we were there. Plenty of people offering different services such as fishing, snorkeling, jet skis ,etc. Water is pretty clear once you get past the waves. Nice place to take a stroll along the beach.

Great quiet place to find peace and relax. The beach was beautiful and very clean. It's tucked away in a quaint little cove, but offers the perfect ocean view.

I like this beach because there are not many people ever on it. Good for water activities and fishing. It provides a wonderful view of some of the islands and mountains pointing out to the ocean. Easy to fall asleep while listening to the waves...More

This is a nice long beach, lined with trees and restaurants (and homes and small hotels). They off lounge chairs for free under the trees, there is a designated swimming area, and water activities available for purchase. There is a public bathroom and showers and...More

This beach was by far, our favourite in the area. We saw Coco, Ocotal, Tamarindo and Conchal, and we loved Hermosa best of all!

Great beach worth visiting. Feels remote and quiet. Great views all around you. Ocean was calm enough to bring my baby in the water with me.

I can suggest you to rent kayaks from Adolfo. He is a guy that owns a boat and rents kayaks and snorkels. He can transport you near an island where you can snorkel. Try it.

We used the lounge chairs on the beach from some of the restaurants. As long as you order food and/ or drinks, they are free of charge. We used 6 of them for an entire day and it was not a problem.
