We did a private family of 4 volcano hike. Our guide was very knowledgeable. We saw Viper snakes, and other wildlife. It was rainy season so did not get to see volcano cuz constant fog. That was mother nature though not fault of tour. Definitely...More

It takes around 3 hours drive to reach these places from San Jose. One day may be possible but very hectic with no relaxation. If you have to be stationed in San Jose you may like to do it in 2 days. To avoid driving every... More

That tour includes a walk in the hanging bridge too, that is a few miles of walk. The walk to the base of the arenal volcano is not steep but there is rocks.
