Lake Arenal is one of the nicest lakes we have ever seen. There are so many things you can do at this lake. We were able to stop by one of the boat ramps and enjoy watching all the tour boats go by.

Nice volcano, but you really can't climb it because it is protected area. Most volcano tours we read about before we got there mentioned climbing the volcano...can't (legally) be done.

Must see! There is so much to do and see. Truly a special place. It is admirable to see how the Costa Rican culture embraces nature. Very easy to be a vegetarian here!

I rode a bike a good bit around the south side of the lake and that was scenic - but then I couldn't see the lake about half the time. Crossed three streams/rivers that were scenic. Lake is made up of volcanic sediment and organic...More

This area is quite lovely with many lodges and what appeared to be activities. Unforuntately the rain was quite heavy, but the views could still be seen. I remember reading McCabes' book when this dam was being planned. The road around the lake is well...More

Beautiful lake and dam. We saw it from the pedal boat tour and also driving along it to Guanacaste. The lake is huge with what looks like a lot of vantage points.

This lake has an incredible view of the Arenal Volcano. We did a kayak trip (don’t know the company), and enjoyed a gorgeous day at the foot of the volcano. The banks are very muddy/clayish. The kind that would suck your shoe off if you...More

This by far was the talk of our week-long trip. The area was absolutely beautiful, Lush, and very green. The area is very well taken care of and clean. Got to see many different types of birds and vegetation. The water level was low so...More

Took a nice 45 min boat trip across the lake, great views of the volcano and "jurassic park" jungle. Lots of different birds on the lake, no animals.

Sorry can’t help you. It wasn’t breezy when we visited, but in reality that single observation doesn’t mean much.
