The hike duration and intensity varies. The trail is 7 kms long one way and it is in and back for a total of 14 kms. It is an eight hours drive to the top and you have to start early. It is 4200 feet...More

Hiked up volcano Maderas mid february. According to the previous reviews we were prepared to swim in mud. It was some mud, but nothing much. Had some view on the top, I think we were lucky. Good hike!

We were a bit disappointed by the Madera volcano - we chose it because we’d heard bad things about hiking Concepción and we thought mud and clouds would be more pleasant than being exposed in heat and dealing with volcanic ash. Our tour company Hotel...More

Must have a guide or you get lost for sure and would be dangerous. 6.3 km hike and on a clear day the trail is still slippery and muddy. 9 hours total to the lake and back without really stopping to enjoy the views. You...More

We took about 7 hours to complete this hike. It’s hard. We are avid hikers and backpackers. Although this isn’t a great distance the difficulty is the terrain. This is somewhat steep and it is usually muddy. It wasn’t just muddy when we went—it was...More
