If you’re visiting Panamá City this is certainly the best thing you can do! Come early when they open or later in the day after 2:00 to see the ships go through the locks. Bring food as options are very limited.
All the staff were welcoming and was able to explain everything in English and Spanish. Everything was very straight forward. The centre is spacious and room to sit down and relax. The prices in the shops were usual tourist prices and were not too over...More
We spent hours here walking through the museum and watching the boats go through the locks . The IMAX theater is fantastic and explains everything you need to know ( in English too). As each boat enters and passes, you are told information about the...More
Everyone expects you to go to Miraflores, so I went. I got there 9-9:30 am and caught a large freighter passing by. Took a few pictures. OK, great. Other than that, there isn't much to do there. I learned much more about the canal and...More
We were a large group and combined the viewing of the Miraflores lock with dinner. The dinner was mediocre but the views of the ships going through the locks were great. They were quite close and we could clearly see the water levels changing and...More
Super place for a relaxed visit and to understand what makes Panama so famous - do go for the Imax movie (every half an hour) to get a better background and soak up time between crossings - suggest you go early before the crowds.
The canal at Miraflores locks is far more interesting than I expected. Also, it takes rather short for the shops to cross them. I spend an hour there (from 4.30 PM) and could se a complete cycle: two smaller ships going to the Atlantic at...More

I find your question a little confusing ??do you want to go to the visitors center and see the Mira Flores locks and also experience the ride thru the locks and canal. I was only there once but we used the hop on /off bus($34 for one day/$37 for two days) to see most of panama city. You can check their routing and see if it suits you)The Maria Flores has a small museum($) and a grandstand to view ships going thru the Locks. I (and my wife)found the old city very interesting using the self walking guide. Taxi's are very reasonable and everyone uses American $$.
