We visited Costa Rica hoping to see monkeys and was disappointed. Not so in Panama! It was steaming hot but the monkeys were out and had full energy. They are cute and the tour interesting. I highly recommend this excursion.

Based on another review, we decided not to book a tour to Monkey Island (which is really several islands) and drive there ourselves and hire a local boat. In general, we don't like packaged tours where you are stuck with a bunch of other people....More

Took a nice lil' trip to Monkey Island. It was pretty cool to navigate alongside the "Panama Canal". We were in a small boat dodging PANAMAX Class ships and it was Epic! The Island (Area) per se is a Natural Beauty. Not many monkeys that...More

Gatun lake is actually man-made and when it was created the highest points became islands. Animals living on those peaks became trapped as a result and remain there to this day. We visited as part of a tour with a company called Panama Day Trips....More

Excursion of Caravan Tour. Small boat with cover, fits about 25 people. 10 minute lake travel to Monkey Island. Saw 3 different breeds of monkey. Tour guide had some grapes and bananas for them.

We saw 2 species of monkeys and heard a 3rd species. Lots of birds. Great experience being in the canal on a small boat passing massive ships.

We did a 1/2 day tour to visit Monkey Island. I feed monkeys from my hand and it was pretty awesome. Go early when the monkey's are hungry. The ride in the canal is pretty cool too.

We found the local boatmen at the entrance to Gamboa Rain Forest Preserve were much more reasonable than the commercial tour. We went out for an hour, and had monkeys eating out of our hand!
