Our whole family loved the trip to Monkey Island! The monkey's and various species of birds were amazing. What a trill my wife & son had hand-feeding bananas to the monkeys! Bonus points for being on part of the Panama Canal and seeing the ships...More

It was reasonably priced entry fee, very interactive with the monkeys, forest was well looked after and clean. It was great to animals were protected and guidelines with rules were in practice. Definitely a place worth visiting with your family whilst visiting Bali.

We visited Costa Rica hoping to see monkeys and was disappointed. Not so in Panama! It was steaming hot but the monkeys were out and had full energy. They are cute and the tour interesting. I highly recommend this excursion.

Based on another review, we decided not to book a tour to Monkey Island (which is really several islands) and drive there ourselves and hire a local boat. In general, we don't like packaged tours where you are stuck with a bunch of other people....More

Gatun lake is actually man-made and when it was created the highest points became islands. Animals living on those peaks became trapped as a result and remain there to this day. We visited as part of a tour with a company called Panama Day Trips....More

Yes, you do need a guide. You can reach the island by boat only and a guide is necessary. They know how to call and feed the monkeys. You can't go onto the island or at least we didn't. We were in the boat and the monkeys... More
