The building is so cool! And the exhibits were really interesting. I particularly liked the bit on Beijing folk customs. But they could have fit so much more in!

If you want to understand Beijing you should visit this museum. You can place every buildings, sights in the right place in the city.

We went there on holidays and no one could speak English, they didn’t have audio guides and all the descriptions were 100% in chinese, impossible to understand

Comparing to other national level museums in Beijing this one is more like a city-specialized museum for Beijing. So you can see the traditional decorations/activities happened just in Beijing. Very professional guided tour offered by volunteers.
