it is one of the larges city squares anywhere. Pictures do not emphasize the sheer scale of it. One of the best areas to visit while in Beijing. But there is so much dust all around. A lot rubbish, air pollution.

This square is worth seeing when you are in Beijing. There is a security check at the entrance, and I was asked to open my bag in Chinese! And the guard asked me to explain the contents of my plastic bottle (just an orange drink!)...More
Lot of time for security check. Please consider it before planning. Chance is there to make lots of pics. Just beside it peoples parliment is there and also many other famous government buildings and MAOs memorial.
