The view of the city was spectacular but not worth a taxi ride up there.
If you have a vision of pleasant green hills and valleys you would be disappointed. It is covered with houses though therre are good views of the Temple Mount and the Valley of Kidron.
Wonderful view of the old city. Walk the palm sunday route to the bottom of the hill. Stop and take in the graveyard on the left.
The Mt Olive the opposing hillside of the old city and provides an excellent view of the layout within the walls. It helps to identify a few landmarks that will help you orient yourself once inside the rather complicated geography of streets and alleys within the walls.
It is amazes me that these trees can live for two or more thousand years. Because they resist drought, disease, and fire, they live for an incredibly long time. The older the tree, the more gnarled the trunk. The trees here, are really knobbed.
