Landmarks on the Mount of Olives include Yad Avshalom, the Tomb of Zechariah, the Church of all Nations, the Church of Maria Magdalene, Dominus Flevit Church, Chapel of the Ascension, Gethsemane, Mary's Tomb, Church of the Pater Noster, the Seven Arches Hotel, Orson Hyde Park...More
From this location it is possible to see nearly every site of the Temple Mount and surrounding areas. Caiaphas House, the Upper Room, Fortress Antonia, Garden Tomb, Church of the Holy Sepulchre, and many more.

Yes. It may look far but actually very well doable. Take eg the Lion gate, go to Getsemaneh and directly behind Getsemaneh on the right hand side a road goes straight up to Mt Olive with the fantastic views.
