As a visitor the first couple of times I only used taxis, but this is a huge money saver and time saver as taxis can be stuuuuuuuuck for more than an hour sometimes.

There are regular trains to many destinations within Bangkok. The trains are clean. We walked to the train station at midnight and it was closed, think it closes at 11:30pm.

Some have lifts. If you can carry your bag/suitcase you will be able to use them all.

I think it only applies to Thai senior citizens. I just buy single trip tickets. I don't use enough of the BTS to warrant buying a day ticket.

Signages are in Thai & English in most places, so using their public transport is no problem at all. Enjoy.
