25 years ago,... a trip in the future, our future. When our first Child was growing, waiting to see the sky, we were walking here. What a great, mystic, beautiful place to be. To let your mind go back in time.

It was about 1.5 hours from Guatemala City. We took a Galapagos Adventure tour. The guide was good and spoke very good English and was informative. The ruins have not been reconstructed. The area is beautiful and on a mountain ridge covered with trees. The...More

Mayan sites of small size and limited services (being water and food, and remember that the toilet literally shuts down at 4 pm!) but very suggestive. We hired a local guide who we met in front and who gave us some historical information about the...More

We have been to Iximche numerous times but always enjoy it because the grounds are well kept. It is best if you speak Spanish because most of the guides don't speak English. The history of the Mayan culture is very interesting and worth the visit...More

This is a great place to visit for a few hours, ideally with someone who knows the history a bit. Map is very useful at visitor center. Grounds are well kept and interesting to walk.

Of the ruins we visited on the Pacific side of Central America, this comprised both the most land and the most structures. There was a small, but very interesting museum. It was fascinating to walk among the structures, some of which are still in use...More

I would highly recommend taking a trip to Iximche if you are unable to visit any of the Mayan Ruins along the north coast.

We stopped on the way from Lake Atitlan to Antigua because we didn't have time for Tikal. We hired a local guide and enjoyed the tour that lasted around 45 minutes. Very small place with a museum and small grounds and mostly foundations left. Still...More

I don't know the timing from Pana, as we came from Guatemala City. I'd suggest a half a day at Iximche.

Contact Agencia de Viajes, Antiqua, Guatemala. As of last summer transport to Iximche was $45 per person through them.
