Its a beach. Dont put more into it than you should. If you really wanted beaches you wouldn't be in Sydney. It has good atmosphere and is overhyped but it has an amazing trail system to walk and free toilets.

Came with kids and they immediately started swimming by the surf area. A local let us know that there's some bad rip-currents on the beach so we should stay "between the flags to swim." The waves were large as far as I was concerned and the kids (age 10) had an absolute blast
