The bus that takes you to the historical village will also make a stop herre. Be sure to do this. The waterfalls are not expansive, like Niagara Falls or other large falls, but they are quite lovely and worth a short stop. The bus comes...More
To go expecting a grand waterfall is a mistake. However, the colours of the rocks and the local industrial heritage makes it a worthwhile visit. It is not a standalone destination but we enjoyed it, despite the torrential rain, as part of a visit to...More
Well, I have spent close to 860 NT to travel from Yehliu Geopark to see a mini waterfall before stopping at Jiufen. Don't be fooled by the promotional photos as you will be disappointed when you get to see it in person.
This waterfall is just near yingyang sea. It can be reach by vehicle with limited parking lots.
The water is from top and the yellow rocks are due to copper mining. The water from top split into few flows created the beautiful waterfall with the...More
In my opinion, it certainly not worth the visit if is to visit only the waterfall. Is out of nowhere and limited parking lots. Most people visited because of the route to Jiufen and Shifen as it is on the way. Nice nature but not...More
With its air of historical heritage, Shuijinjiu (ShueiNanDong, Jingguashi, Jiufen) used to be prosperous and glamorous due to mining. Although its magnificent semblance no longer exists, the peaceful and beautiful atmosphere has persisted. With a wave to the age of the gold rush, one can still see a glimpse of its glorious past through the Golden Waterfall. Gazing at the ShueiNanDong Remains of the 13 Levels,
it is like a beautiful palace that was deserted, earning it the name of “Potala Palace of the Mountain Mines”. Probing forward to the mouth of the river is the considerably distinguished Yinyang Sea, with its half gold half bluish green spectacle inspiring countless imaginations of romance. Walking along the streets of the meandering old streets of Jiufen and tasting the various kinds of authentic eateries is the love of tourists. Stepping into the Golden Museum, one can glimpse the historical traces of the mining industry culture, reminiscing of past glories from its museum, living quarters, and shrine remains. The unassuming mountain city of Houtong used to be a mining village. With the call of cat lovers, volunteer groups were established to create a friendly environment for cats and turned Houtong into a cat village for cat lovers.
