I am not a fan of zoo's in general as I feel sorry for the animals. Not only is this a refuge for animals that can't survive on their own but they are given wonderful areas to live....The animals they have are all from Belize...More

I had a great time at the Belize Zoo. I loved that they only house animals that can't survive in the wild. The mission of the Zoo was explained on signs all throughout the park. The story of the animals are on signs right next...More

Excellent tour of the city and zoo. Lots of animals to observe; no interaction. Jeep ride through jungle and brief cave exploration was enjoyable. Driver and tour guide, Roberto, was very professional, knowledgeable, personable and accomodating. Loved the lunch in Freetown Sibun prepared by the...More

We had a great time at the Belize Zoo! It was very fun to see jaguars, tapirs, howler monkeys, and toucans up close! The zoo only houses animals that were injured or sick and can't survive in the wild. It has a great mission that...More

This is a very special zoo - as many guides pointed out to us, the zoo wasn’t built with enclosures first with the environment brought in, like other zoos. It was built into the environment already there, making it even better for the animals living...More

The Belize Zoo is a "must-do" activity if you are visiting Belize on vacation. Every animal in the zoo is found in Belize and a majority of the animals are rescue animals. We enjoyed this zoo much more than larger zoos we have visited in...More

Great little zoo with local rescue animals. 1.5 hours is enough to see everything. All the animals seem to be well looked after and staff are knowledgeable and friendly.

We were recommended to stop here on our way to Belize City from San Ignacio and so pleased that we did! We spent about 90 minutes walking around the beautifully landscaped enclosures (NOT cages) and viewing Belize's native animals and birds. This place started as...More

I believe we paid $100 per person and it was well worth it. Contact the zoo through email—they are very responsive and helpful.

The daily special (chicken with rice&beans) was typical local food and was well above average for a tourist cafe.
